Signs of Spring

A sure sign that spring is upon us.  I was so happy to see the swans back that I actually wept.  Their beauty and grace, but mostly their lifelong devotion to each other is inspiring.  For them, this past year has been fairly normal, which is why I wept.  Their return meant the return of some normalcy, a return to the routine.  How do they know when there is open water to which they can return?  Their instincts are vastly superior to our algorithms and radar.

Another sign of spring is the flowing of sap, although this looks more like the freezing of sap.  And it might actually be that the tree is trying to protect itself after the branch was removed last fall. I trust the tree knows how to heal itself.  I think all living creatures know how to heal ourselves to a certain extent if we only listen to our bodies and trust our minds.
